Dwarves of the Lonely Mountain
The Firebeards awoke in the Blue Mountains, and after journeying down their eastern flanks founded the mansion of Tumunzahar (S.: Nogrod). Massive losses in war with the Elves of Doriath over the Nauglamír, and the downfall of Nogrod when the lands of Beleriand were destroyed at the end of the First Age, left the Firebeards forever a reduced people.
Some few have holdings in the Blue Mountains to this day, the northwesternmost point of Middle-earth since Beleriand was lost. But the majority joined with the Longbeards in the heyday of Khazad-dûm and have shared their fortunes since.
Personality & Physical Description:
The Firebeards are distinguished by their often flame-red hair and beards, which they adorn with considerable weights of silver to denote their standing amongst the folk. Their appearance is matched by their aggression, and they are considered both the fiercest of the Khazâd in war and the most expert in weaponsmithing.
They have always had great friendship with the nearby Broadbeams and with the Longbeards but little contact with the other Houses further to the east. They are as amicable with Men as any house, but more than any other they nurture an enmity for the Grey-elves whom they will never forgive the First Age slaying of so many of their folk. They have little contact with any neighbouring Elf of Lindon, and will have nothing to do with the Sindarin tongue.
